Carmacks to Mayo, 141 miles, June 21, 2010

Our first stop of the day was at the Five Fingers Rapids just north of Carmacks.

IMG_0471 This is an area the sternwheelers headed to and back from Dawson City did not like, as only the channel closest to us was navigable.

Here is Bob headed down these 160 steps to see the rapids up close.

Along the path was this birch lined area.  I loved it!!

IMG_0474 Soon we were at the edge, now Bob just back up 3 steps, please.

Our destination tonight was Mayo, so we turned right.  Mayo is small, about 450 population.

We are staying in a open grass area behind the Bedrock Motel in Mayo, $10 CND per night.  All of their  five electric sites were full.  They did have one 15 amp site, but we decided to pass, not sure what 15 amp would do for us.  Later a class B came in and took that 15 amp site.

Tomorrow up early to explore Keno, up the hill.
