Silverton OR to Olympia WA, 153 miles, May 15, 2010

Before we started out this morning, Bob wanted to provide additional rock protection against the Canadian and Alaskan gravel roads to our radiator, so he added some 1/4” hardware cloth secured by zip ties and or wire to the existing undercarriage protection.  Hopefully this will prevent any rocks from bouncing up and being thrown into the radiator by the fan.011 By 10:30 we were on the road.  On our way to I-5 we wondered why a passing vehicle was waving at us.  Then Bob looked out the side mirror on the passenger side and saw one of our bay door open!!    We were stopped at a stoplight when Bob saw the open door, so I dashed out and ran back and closed the door!  Wow we were so lucky not to have knocked off the door.  It all happened so fast, no pictures, but here is a photo later when we got to the campground what Bob saw, it was the door I had gotten the bucket out to wash the windshield and locked the lock, but evidently the door had not closed tightly.  Thank you lady for waving to us about something, and we finally figured it out!

022 Our drive through Portland on a Saturday went very well, on to

Seattle tomorrow.  We try and plan to travel through large metropolitan areas on the weekend, as we do not like a lot of traffic.

This mural is what we see outside our front windshield, very cool!  Definitely better than some views we have out our front windshield.

T-1 day until we cross the border into BC!  We are getting excited!!!

Wow you all were really lucky with that bay door. Glad that lady waved you over.

Now the fun safely. :)

My son had used my computer and was checking his mail (gmail) and I didn't notice it still said his name. He didn't log it out. So sorry about that.
