Success, we were able to buy our Splendide Washer/dryer door handle kit for $40. At least we saved $12 by picking it up and not having it shipped. Then Bob was able to install it so the unit is as good as new. Here is a photo of the replaced part.
It is now time to head east towards Idaho. Our GPS had a issue on I84, told us to Make a U turn. It just kept repeating itself, so finally I just turned it off then on again and all was good.
Here is a shot of the Columbia River. Can’t you see Lewis and Clark over on the far bank?
We ended up staying two nights in Hermiston, Oregon, home of the Hermiston Melons.
On Friday (9/11/09) we headed towards Idaho.
I am also fascinated by the Lewis and Clark adventures, so we stopped at this pull off to see the signs. The Corps of Discovery traveled by horse near this spot on May 3, 1806.
We had planned to stay at Hells Gate State Park in Lewiston, ID, but when we arrived we saw an evil sign saying “Campground FULL”, so Bob remembered we had came by another campground on our way through Clarkston, WA just back across the river, so off we went and they had a space for us. Clarkston, WA and Lewiston, ID are two separate towns separated by the Snake River. We enjoyed our dinner outside watching the sun go down.
See, I told you, you can see William Clark, Sacagawea & baby Pomp over by the river.
Saturday some friends, Steve and Pat, who were on the Rick Steves Turkey Tour, who live close to here, came for a visit and took us out to lunch.
