This morning, thankfully warm, clear and bright, we were off to Juneau on this ten passenger Cessna.
Great flight and fantastic views.
Flying above the clouds, they weren’t too high.
Below a glacier is spilling into a lake before entering the Lynn Canal. The airport in Juneau is 14 miles from the city, the Driftwood Lodge did provide us with a free shuttle ride from the airport and when we leave on Saturday, they will drop us off at the Alaskan Marine Highway Ferry, which is even further away than the airport. Very nice service!
Lunch was in order, so off we go. In the Lonely Planet guidebook they suggest Pel’Meni, serving only Russian dumplings either potato or beef, spiced with a hot curry sauce with cilantro. Yummy!!
This is the Alaskan Governor's Mansion or House, taken from our motel window. Wonder if Sarah lived their with her family?
Even had a bald eagle sighting!
We did the required shopping, ended up buying Bob a rain wind jacket, but guess who got to break it in. I didn’t even bother to remove the price tag.
Dinner was a bowl of crab bisque and rolls to die for from Tracy’s King Crab Shack. Here is Bob enjoying his last bite.
