Well, last night our trusty carbon monoxide alarm started to do its thing at midnight, ugh!! This time pushing the button did not work, ugh again!! Bob was in the process of hunting down the screwdriver to remove it from the wall and it quit. We think is needs to be replaced, but we are not where we can find one or receive mail easily. On the front cover, it does indicate “Replace after: 60 Months” so…with our coach being built in Nov 2005, we are close to the 60 months (5 years) but not there yet. So if it goes off again tonight it is being disconnected forever!!
After lunch we headed out to explore, first to the Visitor Center, received some flyers for a town walk and also some literature for the Othello Tunnels. Since it was raining lightly we thought the tunnels would provide some cover, so off we went. Well partway there we heard this strange sound from under the hood and some loss of engine power. Bob checked under the hood and thought the AC compressor was not turning and the belt was getting HOT. Turned around and went back to town, found one repair garage, the mechanic had left on a errand, so were referred to another one about 1/2 block away. Within 30 minutes, we had a new belt installed, this time bypassing the seized up air conditioner compressor. New belt cost $81, labor $20!! Only in small town Canada!! Thank you Don at Druet’s Auto Service for your wonderful service!!
Now off again to the Othello Tunnels. They are five abandoned RR tunnels you can walk through.
Above you are looking through two of the tunnels.
As you can see, it was raining, but the trail through the tunnels was fun and interesting. Between a couple of the tunnels you could hearing the roar of the river below.
