Visit to Shipshewana IN & RV Hall of Fame, June 20-21, 2011

For a Father’s Day meal, I had promised Bob we would go to the Blue Gate Restaurant for lunch on Monday.

We ordered off the menu instead of “All you can eat family style”.  His meatloaf sandwich with Amish chips was delicious as well as my turkey smothered with melted cheese.

Then, came the topper, Rhubarb Custard Pie.  Life is Good!!

We had fun looking around the gift shop, I found a plaque I liked, but only came away with a photo.

On Tuesday we drove to the RV Motorhome Hall of Fame in Elkhart.  I called this one the first “slide out”, but they called it a telescoping apartment,  made in 1916 in San Francisco and sold for $100.  They were sold as aftermarket camping equipment for the early trucks.

An early porta-potty and bath tub, not sure how the water got in or out of the tub.

All over this area you will see Quilt Gardens, this one is at the Fairgrounds where we are staying in Goshen.  They estimate this 20’x40’ area to have 4,000 plants.

Hopefully, we'll make it to that area someday. I'd love to go and now even more so since you showed us that rhubarb dessert!

We love the Blue Gate Restaurant and always stop in there when we are in that area.

I'll bet your rhubarb pie is better than theirs.

The hall of fame is fun and we also enjoy the flea market in town also.

Thanks for the memories.
