Woke up to rain this morning, so spent the morning just catching up on blogs, even added updated areas visited maps to the blog.
We ventured out about 2 pm, looked up a fellow blogger, TennRebel. They are on a Good Sam Alaskan Tour and happened to be in Tok this afternoon and evening. Also did some more grocery shopping, think we are set now until Valdez. Stopped at the Visitor Center to find out when the 4th of July Bog Races were being held, we heard about the races yesterday. The races had started at 3 pm, so off we go to the coach to unload the groceries and then out to the bog races.
There were three lanes of mud bog, the two outer lanes where used by these ATV’s, later we find out the center lane is for foot races.
I suggest you do not get in the way of this one hot mamma!
Below is a short video of some of the action.
Before we left for the races, Bob had spotted a mushroom, Orange Birch Bolete, just like we had collected a few days ago, in the RV park, so when we got back off we went mushroom hunting.
After cleaning them, they are being sautéed. They were yummy with the last of our frozen shrimp from Puerto Penasco.
Here I am standing in what our camp host called tundra, a very thick soft layer of growth like moss. Who needs a mattress if you have this available.

Those ATV races are pretty funny! We met Robert & Nancy too. I've even made a list on my sidebar of the bloggers we've met on the trip! I believe that Paul & Helen are in Valdez now...or heading there soon!
